Geothermal Heating & Cooling:
The ground is a constant 55 degrees, so it can help heat and cool with less energy. Think about it: instead of going from 0 to 70 degrees in the winter, your heat warms from 55 to 70.
Green Home: Minimizes use of energy, water and materials. Definitely has low or no operating costs, better indoor air quality, and sustainability in mind. Possibly has skylights, recycled building materials and solar panels.
LEED: Stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, which really doesn’t tell you much. It’s more helpful to know that it’s a nationwide program that provides certification guidelines for green construction projects.
Low VOC: Describes building materials and finishes that give off low levels of Volatile Organic Compounds, which are not nice to breathe. You know that new home smell? Not so good for you.

uHome U City is passion project. It’s about taking a personal approach to cost-efficient, green home building. All uHomes will be priced under $200,000. And they will have Platinum LEED Certification. But even more importantly, these homes will have a personality. Yours.
We’ll be designing each uHome with respect for you, your neighbors and the planet we all share. So spaceship shapes won’t fly. Neither will cookie-cutter stuff. Instead, consideration for the surroundings of your new home will be balanced with eco-friendly innovation.
So far, there are five uHomes planned for construction in University City. We look forward to creating more in the future. And to presenting customized floor plans to each uHome buyer. But it’s a bit early for that, because your plans will be a reflection of you. And we haven’t met you yet.
